Characterization of Occult Hepatitis B Virus Infection Among Iranian Patients with Behcet's Disease; Correlation with Clinical Status

چکیده
Background: Behcet's disease (BD) is a chronic multisystem vasculitis with an unknown etiology. During the past years, several reports are published on occult hepatitis B infection (OBI), presence of virus (HBV) DNA in absence HBsAg, rheumatic diseases. Objectives: The current study aimed to, firstly, investigate prevalence OBI patients BD, and, secondly, its potential association clinical and therapeutic status BD. Methods: HBV serological markers were evaluated 220 consecutive BD to detect OBI. Demographic data positive negative groups compared. Results: mean age was 39.24 (± 10.57), 134 (62.9%) male. duration 14.13 8.63) years. No HBsAg case found, but found 19 (8.6%) patients. median viral load value 475.84 copy/mL. We compared 10 156 complete accessible data. There no difference between two concerning demographic characteristics (age, sex, duration), different manifestations, or types medications (immunomodulatory, cytotoxic, corticosteroids). Conclusions: This first showing rather high among did not find any correlation positivity medications, HLA-B51. Further studies needed larger group by molecular evaluation (as well as serologic) regarding this possible association.

CHARACTERISTICS AND PREVALENCE OF OCCULT HEPATITIS B VIRUS INFECTION IN PATIENTS WITH HEPATITIS C IN IRAN
ABSTRACT Background: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in patients who lack detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is called occult hepatitis B infection. Such infections have been frequently identified in patients with chronic hepatitis Cliver disease, but their prevalence is not known. Methods: 207 patients with chronic hepatitis C who were HCV -RNA and antiHCV positive were stu...
متن کاملThe Absence of Hepatitis C Virus Infection Among Patients with Hepatitis B virus in Mashhad, Iran
Background and Aims: Many studies have provided evidence for the role of hepatitis B and C viruses in the development of liver cancer. Although the routine treatment is available for both conditions, no definite guideline is available to treat patients dually infected with HBV and HCV. This study was performed to determine the frequency of HBV/HCV-coinfection in Mashhad, North-East of Iran. Mat...

Occult hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection (i.e., detectable HCV-RNA in the liver or peripheral blood mononuclear cells) in the absence of both serum HCV-RNA and anti-HCV antibodies has not been investigated in hemodialysis patients. In this study, real-time PCR and in situ hybridization was used to test for the presence of genomic and antigenomic HCV-RNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of ...
متن کاملOccult hepatitis B virus infection and clinical outcomes of patients with chronic hepatitis C.
Although occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections in individuals without detectable hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) may occur and have been reported to be common in patients with chronic hepatitis C, the clinical relevance remains controversial. We searched for serum HBV DNA in 210 HBsAg-negative patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV)-related liver disease (110 patients with chronic hepatit...
